Current Position

Yuefan is now a Ph.D. student in Materials Engineering at the University of Washington.

Background

While at UCSB, Yuefan was an undergraduate and Master's student in Chemical Engineering and Mathematics. He is from Beijing, China, and was a soccer player on his high school team. He enjoyed life in Santa Barbara, especially the weather here. He is a big fan of Chinese food but also likes the burritos at Wahoo's Fish Tacos on campus.

Research

Yuefan studied carbon anodes produced by methane pyrolysis, in collaboration with the McFarland group at UCSB. His main focus was testing the electrochemical performance in Li-ion and Na-ion cells of carbon structures obtained under various pyrolysis conditions, with the ultimate goal of increasing the value of the carbon side-product in methane pyrolysis processes.
