Shiyu Yuan

Background

I grew up in Guangzhou, China, and came to Santa Barbara for college due to the similar weather and beautiful scenery. My passion for chemistry has developed since high school, though I explored the track of medicinal chemistry at first (a huge shift from what I am studying now). In my free time, I like taking a walk by the sea, playing table tennis, and visiting art museums.

Current Research

I am working with Tianyu Li on Disordered Rocksalt cathode materials in Li-ion batteries. We are studying how these materials with varying compositions perform under charging and discharging cycles and their stability and capacity.
