Emily is now working at Natron Energy.

Background

Emily is originally from a small town in central Illinois and did my undergrad in Materials Science & Engineering with a focus on electronic materials at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She enjoyed the many opportunities offered in Illinois but was also happy to have moved to Santa Barbara! While in Illinois, Emily filled her time (outside of classes and research) with middle-distance track and continued running in Santa Barbara - albeit on more scenic trails. She particularly loves UCSB's location since it allowed her to spend a full day in lab and still manage to get out and explore the beautiful outdoors.

Research

During her time in the Clément Group, Emily worked on developing novel Na-ion cathode materials based on open framework structures. Using magnetic resonance techniques, she identified the mechanisms behind their electrochemical performance and worked to develop improved Na-ion cathode materials.
