Background

Born and raised in Southern California until enlisting in the Army at the age of eighteen. After being medically retired I decided to pursue an education, a pursuit which has landed me here at U.C. Santa Barbara as a PhD student. When I am not in the lab I enjoy trail running, yoga, writing, and pondering the meaning of things.

Current Research

Working to develop and characterize solid electrolytes for solid oxide fuel cell applications. We aim to understand the role of aliovalent doping in alkaline-earth zirconates via XRD, NMR, thermogravimetric analysis, and a.c. impedance spectroscopy. 

Education

  • 2018-Present – Ph.D. in Materials, UC Santa Barbara.
  • 2013-2018 – B.S. in Applied Physics, California State University, San Bernardino. Minor in Applied Mathematics.
